General Practice Incentive Fund
Overview
The Primary Health Networks (PHN) Program General Practice Incentive Fund (GPIF) grant opportunity (the grant opportunity) will enable the design and implementation of health care services in communities where primary care and related service systems: fail are at imminent risk of failure, or are characterised by ongoing instability. The department will identify intervention sites for where the grant opportunity may be targeted. Once a site is identified, the Decision Maker will agree for the relevant PHN to be invited to the grant opportunity. The site identification process includes consultation with relevant jurisdictions (state and territory governments). It will consider information available to the department regarding community impact of service instability or failure. The PHN and/or Rural Workforce Agency (RWA) specific to the identified site may also be consulted to understand local issues. Phase 1: Planning/co-design PHN undertakes consultation with relevant stakeholders for planning and co-design of a service system recovery plan (SSRP). Phase 2: Implementation Implement and evaluate approved SSRP activities. Funding for implementation activities will be determined through assessment of applications (i.e. SSRPs submitted according to the Application Form). Note: Please refer to the most recent version of the Attachment Pack (Implementation Plan, Engagement Strategy, Budget and Risk Management Plan) published on 4 December 2025.
