The Funding for Social Partner Participation on Safe Work Australia grant program will run over 5 years from 2026–27 to 2030–31. This grant program is round 2 of the previous Funding for Social Partner Participation on Safe Work Australia administered in 2023 which promoted tripartism and social dialogue. The second round will commit $5.625 million GST exclusive over the life of the grant to continue opportunities for tripartism and social dialogue to provide support for employer representatives and unions to improve safety, fairness, and productivity in workplaces. The objective of the program is to support employer representatives and unions to effectively fulfil their roles as Safe Work Australia (SWA) members. The intended outcomes of the program are to: strengthen tripartism and social dialogue in national work health and safety (WHS) and workers’ compensation policy development support full engagement in SWA tripartite policy development and decision-making processes enable social partners to work with their affiliates and members to undertake consensus building activities on work health and safety and workers’ compensation policy matters enable social partners to genuinely contribute ideas, input and experience from workers and business through broader and more in-depth outreach.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Eligible Applicants
    Applicants must be one of the invited organisations: Australian Council of Trade Unions (ABN 67 175 982 800), Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABN 85 008 391 795), or The Australian Industry Group (ABN 76 369 958 788), and have received an invitation to apply through GrantConnect.
  • Australian Business Number (ABN)
    Applicants must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
  • GST Registration
    Applicants must be registered for the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
  • Exclusions
    Applicants are ineligible if they have not received an invitation, are listed on the National Redress Scheme’s non-joining institutions list, or are on the Workplace Gender Equality Agency non-compliant list.
  • Personnel Compliance
    Personnel working on the project must comply with state and territory legislation relating to working with children and hold Australian Skills Quality Authority accreditation.
  • SWA Membership
    Applicant organisations must maintain Safe Work Australia membership.
Deliverables
  • Support employer representatives and unions to fulfil their roles as Safe Work Australia members
  • Engage in consultative meetings, forums, events, workshops, and summits to source feedback on national policy issues
  • Conduct data collection, surveys, analysis, and reporting related to work health and safety and workers’ compensation
  • Enable social partners to contribute ideas and experience through outreach within and outside their membership
  • Other activities necessary to carry out obligations as assessed by the department

Assessment of organisation's experience, key personnel skills, access to resources, ongoing WHS dialogue activities, membership representativeness, and use of funding to collect and represent WHS views.

  • Grant opportunity is closed non-competitive and only invited organisations may apply
  • No funding if receiving government funding for the same purpose
