Overview
The objective of the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program is to contribute to the development of a highly skilled and relevant Australian workforce that supports economic sustainability and competitiveness. The Program contains a range of employer incentives and personal benefit payments to Australian Apprentices. The Program links into the industries and occupations traditionally associated with the apprenticeship system. In addition, the Program targets a broad range of traineeships and apprenticeships in new and emerging industries especially where future skills shortages are projected.

Eligibility Criteria
- Citizenship or Residency StatusThe Australian Apprentice must be an Australian citizen, a foreign national with permanent residency, or a New Zealand Passport holder with at least six months’ residence in Australia at the date of commencement or recommencement of the Australian Apprenticeship.
- Employment and Training ArrangementsThe Australian Apprentice must be employed in an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement in an Australian state or territory, under a Training Contract approved by the State Training Authority, and undertaking an accredited training program leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
- Previously Completed, Incomplete, and Concurrent QualificationsEligibility for payments may be affected by qualifications that the Australian Apprentice has previously completed, commenced but not completed, or is concurrently undertaking.
Deliverables
- Completion of a Training Contract
- Participation in structured training leading to a recognised qualification
Conditions & Exclusions
- •Employers who are also the Australian Apprentice are not eligible for incentives.
- •Employment arrangements such as casual, subcontracting, or commission-based positions are not eligible.
- •Employers listed on the National Redress Scheme are not eligible for payments.
