Overview
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to fund the Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) to implement the updated 2016 Disability Inclusion Planning – A Guide for Local Government (the Guide). This will improve outcomes for people with disability by improving the ability of local governments and councils to: • plan, • deliver, • promote accessible, inclusive services, workplaces, and communities. The grant aims to: • Improve services and outcomes that people with disability receive from local governments and associated councils. • Implement the Guide. • Build staff ability to deliver accessible, culturally responsive and inclusive systems. • Sustain the national community of practice (COP) to share knowledge, tools, and evidence of what works. • Showcase effective council?led disability initiatives. As a result of this grant: • People with disability have improved outcomes, better access to services, more inclusive communities, and increased employment within local government. • Councils use the Guide to improve disability inclusion of services within their influence. • Local government increase their capability and confidence to design and deliver inclusive services and employment practices. • The COP continues to share resources and grow its inclusive initiatives case?study bank, • Jurisdictions take on successful disability initiatives. - National Redress Scheme ComplianceThe applicant organisation (or project partner) must not be listed on the National Redress Scheme’s website as an institution that has not joined or signified intent to join the Scheme.
- Workplace Gender Equality ComplianceThe applicant organisation (and project partners if applicable) must not be on the Workplace Gender Equality Agency website non-compliant list.
- NDIS Banning OrdersThe applicant organisation, key personnel, and project partners must not be subject to a National Disability Insurance Scheme banning order or listed for compliance action by the NDIS Commission.
- Child Safety MeasuresRelevant Child Safe measures must be in place before execution of the grant agreement if the activity involves contact with children, including compliance with laws, National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, risk assessments, and training.
- Disability Services and Inclusion Act 2023 ComplianceThe applicant organisation and project partners must understand and comply with statutory conditions under the Disability Services and Inclusion Act 2023, including code of conduct, complaints management, and incident management systems.
- Invited OrganisationThe applicant organisation must be invited to apply and listed under the eligible organisations in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
- Eligibility CriteriaThe applicant organisation must meet all eligibility criteria as detailed in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
- No Duplicate FundingThe applicant must declare if receiving funding from another government source for the same purpose and provide details.
- Compliance with Legislation and StandardsThe applicant organisation must comply with relevant legislation, policies, and industry standards as specified in the Grant Opportunity Guidelines.
