Aged Care Capital Assistance Program - Critical Infrastructure Projects
Overview
The purpose of this grant opportunity is to respond to immediate, known issues where the department has identified a critical and urgent need for aged care infrastructure funding in thin markets. It is a targeted, non?competitive grant, with organisations invited to apply by the department where they are identified as able to partner with the Commonwealth to address urgent infrastructure needs. Organisations will only be invited if they are registered providers, can demonstrate they are in a position to become registered prior to any grant being made, or are government providers that will make infrastructure available to a registered provider through a contractual arrangement to deliver funded aged care services. The objectives are to address critical and urgent infrastructure needs in thin markets where there is a risk of aged care homes closing, an immediate or imminent risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of older people or aged care workers, or time?limited opportunities to secure long?term aged care provision in areas of market failure and unmet need. This includes supporting a registered provider of last resort for new builds or upgrades, or capitalising on proposals that enable cost?sharing, collaboration, or innovative and integrated approaches. The intended outcomes are to ensure older people can access funded aged care services close to home, ensure services are delivered through safe and quality infrastructure, and support registered providers to deliver viable and sustainable aged care services over the long term. Please refer to the most recent version of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines (Version 5) published on 13 March 2026.
