Overview

Under the Indigenous Advancement Strategy, the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) considers grant proposals that address a need for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Proposals should be developed with the target community or group who will be impacted by the activity. Where an unmet need is identified, the NIAA may directly approach multiple suitable organisations to invite them to apply for funding to deliver an activity/service to address this need. Applications will be considered through a competitive process, including comparing applications against each other.

Eligibility Criteria

Invitation to Apply
To be eligible for grant funding under the IAS you must have been invited to apply by the Agency.
Australian Business Number (ABN)
Applicants must have an ABN, with exemptions in special cases.
Entity Type
Eligible entities include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporations, companies incorporated in Australia, incorporated associations, cooperatives, government bodies, and others as specified.
Financial Viability
Applicants must be financially viable, with the Agency potentially conducting its own enquiries.

Deliverables

Grant activities must align with IAS objectives and be delivered in Australia unless an exemption is granted.
