The department is committed to producing high-quality research into gambling harm to: increase understanding of gambling harm inform harm minimisation strategies support the continual improvement of programs, policies, services and campaigns that seek to address gambling harm. Applications should propose research projects investigating the relationship between gambling, gambling harm and family violence .

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant type
Professor researchers are eligible to apply under the category of 'Investigative grant'.
Funding exclusions
Funding will not be provided for capital works, commercial activities, evaluation of existing policies or programs, projects co-funded by the gambling industry, deficit funding of organisations, activities funded by government, projects already commenced, unrelated service delivery, isolated activities like videos or travel, international travel, organisational levy or administrative fee beyond 10% of total budget, and applications from non-incorporated entities unless auspiced by an incorporated entity.
Project scope
Only stand-alone research projects will be funded; projects that are part of pre-existing research or expanding beyond agreed specifications may have funding withdrawn.
Data requirements
There is no requirement to use Victorian data specifically, but research findings must be relevant to the Victorian community.

Stand-alone research project outputs relevant to the impact of gambling on the Victorian community

Evaluation Criteria

Potential impact on Victorian Government and broader community

Assessment of how the proposed research will impact the Victorian Government and community.

Conditions & Exclusions

•Projects already commenced are ineligible.
•Funding will be withdrawn if projects expand beyond agreed specifications.
•Organisational levy or administrative fee must not exceed 10% of total budget.
•Applications from non-incorporated entities must be auspiced by an incorporated entity.
•International travel is not funded.
•Projects co-funded by the gambling industry are excluded.
